2019 Fall Festival of Colours cancelled

2019 Fall Festival of Colours cancelled

We regrettably announce, Ski Wentworth’s 2019 Fall Festival of Colours chairlift ride, traditionally held over the Thanksgiving weekend, has been cancelled due to chairlift maintenance.

During scheduled maintenance to the chairlift gearbox at the Doppelmayr facility in Quebec this summer, it was discovered certain mechanical parts needed to be replaced. These are not ‘off the shelf’ components and must be specifically manufactured for our chairlift gearbox at the plant in Switzerland.

The chair is expected to be ready for inspection by mid-November and will be operational for the 2019-2020 season, as usual.

We love the Fall Festival of Colours event and deeply regret any inconvenience and disappointment. The safe operation of the chairlift is our number one priority.

If you’d like to get some exercise and enjoy the fall foliage by hiking up and down the mountain, we are opening the lodge on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 11am-3pm (weather permitting). There’s no charge. Access to washrooms only. No food service or other activities.

The guided hike to High Head will also be available with departure at 10am sharp from the Old Valley School House on Barclay Road. It’s an 11km (3 hour) hike up the mountain. It’s free, but a donation to the Old School House is appreciated.
