Easter Weekend Events

Easter Weekend 2016NEW DATE for Aquaneige – Sunday, March 27
Easter Weekend is jam packed with events! Due to the weather forecast, we’ve moved the fireworks to Saturday, March 26. We’ll be firing off an amazing display of fireworks on the Bunny Hill. Bonfire at 8pm and fireworks at 9pm. Saturday is Retro Day! Wear your wildest, brightest neons from the back of the closet. We start the day with Retro Champagne & OJ breakfast. We’re cleaning out the freezer, so join us for a free breaky. . King & Queen Retro are crowned at 3pm up in Ducky’s. Saturday night is the party of the season – Ender Bender with DJ Harv. This year’s theme is “Jungle Fever”.  On Sunday, the crowd pleasing Aqauneige is at 1pm. Maximum of 75 participants. Registration opens at 9am at the main ticket counter. Our bunnies are hiding eggs around the mountain for the annual Easter Egg hunt. Monday, March 28 is the final day of the season. Make sure you come out and get in some turns.  Spring hours & pricing run March 23-28. $30 lift tickets and $20 rentals. Hours: 9am-5pm.

March Break 2016

Happy Nova Scotia March Break! We’re open extended hours Monday and Tuesday until 9pm, with full price day lift tickets and 2 for 1 night lift tickets. All other weekly specials are in effect. We have daily activities and crafts for kids in the Port Greville Room from 12-2pm. We also offer one day camps – sign up for one, three or five. Whatever suits your schedule.  Looking ahead to the weekend, we have the Adrenalin Divas Park Queen event on Saturday. The WSRC will hold its final Club race of the season. Saturday Apres Ski we’ll have Jon Cyr performing live in Ducky’s. See you here!

March 12-13 Weekend

Still lots of snow left on these hills! Mother Nature gave us a fresh coating of snow on Friday. We’ll be open on 14 trails and two terrain parks this weekend. Lots of events going on. Friday is the Get Up There fundraiser. Participants snowshoe or hike up and ski back down. Saturday we’re hosting Snowboard Nova Scotia Slopestyle provincials. Our annual Maple Syrup Festival runs Saturday & Sunday. We’ll have BBQ’s and pancakes, plus maple sugar on snow. Aerobics First will be here Saturday with Rossingol & Volkl demo. Join us Saturday at the Take It Outside tent. We’ll be playing music and having some fun. On Sunday, East Coast Lifestyle is here for the finals of their Rail Jam series. It’s the final weekend for seasonal snow school programs. In Ducky’s, we have the Mike Bochoff Band Friday night Wing Night and The Island Boys are back for Saturday après ski.  Saturday night its the Snow Dance Party with Terry Edmunds Band. No cover, but a donation to the food bank is gladly accepted. Looking ahead to March Break – we’re open extended hours on Monday & Tuesday 9-9 with regular day lift ticket pricing and 2 for 1 night tickets. All other weekly specials are in place. There is limited space left in March Break camps. Registration closes on Friday. We’ll see you here!

Rolland Brunner race weekend

After Wednesday night’s downpour, the temps dropped and the trails are grooming up really nicely for Friday. We’re loving this return to more ‘normal’ winter temperatures. You will be impressed with the conditions! The Rolland Brunner alpine ski races run Friday-Sunday. About 150 athletes from the Maritime provinces will be here competing in the region’s top race. Please note: on Friday only, Rosebowl & Rosebowl Terrain Park will be closed for the race. There will still be lots of open terrain: Beaver, Chickadee, Sissy, Sugar Shack, Black Fly, Robins, Feffie and Gooey. Rosebowl will re-open for night skiing once the race is over.

Cathy’s Cup Underway!

Beautiful, sunny day for the 235 Cathy’s Cup racers today. The snow groomed up amazingly!
We’re open on 12 trails. Rosebowl Park opening at 12:30pm.
Tonight Garrett Mason will be entertaining us in Ducky’s. $10 cover or FREE if you are over 19 and participated in Cathy’s Cup today.

Freestyle Ski Championship Weekend

Mother Nature may have thrown us a curve ball earlier this week, but we still have plenty of snow, both of the manmade and natural kind! Chute and Headwall will be opening Saturday. Chickadee will re-open Saturday mid morning after the final days of snowmaking. Rosebowl Park will be open on Friday afternoon. It’s a big weekend for freestyle skiers as Wentworth Freestyle Ski League hosts two provincial championships. Slopestyle on Saturday and Big Air on Sunday. Come on out and cheer on our athletes! Ducky’s is going to be rockin’ Friday Wing Night when Witchitaw hits the stage at 9pm with its Southern Country Rock vibe. On Saturday, Jon Cyr is here for Apres Ski. Always lots happening in Valley of Snow. We’ll see you here!


Holiday Weekend

Things are shaping up perfectly for the Heritage Day Holiday weekend. Mother Nature has dumped over 50cm on us in the past five days. Conditions are excellent and the weather looks like a beautiful winter weekend. We have soooo much on the go, from Valentine’s Dance to moguls competition. Here’s the low down: Get your sweetheart out on the dance floor for the Valentine’s Day Dance with Big Fish on Saturday, Feb. 13 starting at 9pm. Tickets are $15 on sale now in the office or at the door. This is a fundraiser for the Wentworth Freestyle Ski League with a silent auction during the dance. If you need to sweeten up, they’re also holding a bake sale on Saturday & Sunday in the lodge. The Wentworth Freestyle Ski League is hosting a Moguls competition on Monday. Make your way over to the high performance training centre to check it out. It’s Heritage Day on Monday, Feb. 15 – we’re open extended hours from 9am to 9pm. Regular price lift tickets during the day and 2 for 1 Night lift tickets. Here’s something new – legs tired after some runs? Why not relax & recouperate in a sauna – right at the bottom of the mountain! Sauna Nova Scotia will be here with a mobile sauna for the weekend. Friday Night Wing Night join Tim, Corey & Bruce for some live music in Ducky’s. They’ll be back again on Saturday for Apres Ski. A-1 will be here Saturday demoing the latest and greatest in Salomon and Atomic skis. Our friends from Take It Outside will be here Saturday under the tent with great giveaways and fun music. Phew! Big week ahead!

Lots going on this week in the Valley of Snow. The 30th annual Masters Ski Camp starts Wednesday. Olympian and World Cup gold medalist Liisa Savajarvi will be here as well as other high level coaches from across the country and here at home. Friday, we welcome Dalhousie University students for their annual Munro Day ski trip. Friday night Wing Night features Nowhere Road Band. Saturday is jam packed, we have the Masters Ski Race, SNS Slopestyle, WFSL & Snow School Fun day & BBQ, Snow Angel World Record attempt on the Bunny Hill at 2pm, apres ski with Island Boys night time entertainment with Red C & Terminal Road. Sunday we host a para-alpine race and day 2 of WFSL & Snow School BBQ Phew! We’ll see you here!

Get ready!

Jan. 29 @ 6:30pm: The snow started before noon and hasn’t let up yet! It’s a heavy, base building snow that should be good for opening South Side, Chickadee and Tbar tomorrow! Gooey opened today on manmade snow. Come on out. Its going to be a fun day of skiing on new snow. Join us for Apres Ski from 2-5pm with Award winning artist Jared Lutes. And if you’re a Freestyle Ski parent, we’ll see you in the Port Greville Room at 3pm for our annual Wine & Cheese.
